The Butterfly Project

The Butterfly is a  three-year project (started in September 2006) working with migrant women, informing them of their rights in the UK. The Project is funded by Big Lottery. The aim of the project is to inform women of their rights, and their family’s rights in areas such as health care, education and employment.

Who can use the Butterfly Project?

We will help women who have moved to the UK and are in need of advice or assistance.

What kind of help can I get?

The Butterfly Project aims to improve women’s access to mainstream services by providing signposting and information on key services such as education, health, training and employment. Information is provided in many other areas including welfare benefits, debt and local support groups.

The project worker is accredited at Level One with the Office of Immigration Services Commissioner and is able to provide advice to clients on basic matters. Examples of this advice are applications for British Nationality. Please contact the Butterfly Project for further details of immigration advice services.

Group training sessions and meetings are also available for women to attend. We have worked in partnership with Refugee Women of Bristol to provide information for women about English-language classes and family reunion. Details of future meetings will be advertised on this website so please visit again soon.
